Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Calobuddy, a calorie-tracking web service operated by Moheb Boules as an individual based in Egypt (“Calobuddy”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Calobuddy. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Your account

You sign in using a one-time code sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure, for everything that happens under your account, and for the accuracy of the information you provide (name, age, gender, height, weight, calorie goal, eating window). You may delete your account at any time from settings; deletion is a hard delete as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. The Service

Calobuddy lets you log meals, track daily calorie and macronutrient intake against a goal you set, manage fasting windows, and share that activity with a single “buddy” user who you choose to connect with. Calorie and macronutrient estimates are produced with the help of an AI model (Google Gemini) based on the text you submit.

4. AI estimates are not guaranteed to be correct

The calorie counts, macronutrient values, food identifications, and portion estimates produced by Calobuddy are generated by an AI model. They are approximations and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or wrong. We do not guarantee that any estimate is correct.

You should not rely on Calobuddy's estimates for any purpose where accuracy matters, including medical treatment, allergen avoidance, sports performance, or clinical nutrition. If accurate values are important to you, verify them against package labels, weighed measurements, or a registered nutrition professional.

5. Not medical or nutritional advice

Calobuddy is not a medical device, medical service, or licensed nutrition service. Nothing in the Service constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or professional nutritional counseling.

Calorie goals, fasting windows, and any suggestions shown by the Service are general informational tools only. Do not use Calobuddy to diagnose or treat any health condition. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider, physician, or registered dietitian before changing your diet, starting a fasting regimen, or making decisions that affect your health, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, have an eating disorder or a history of one, have diabetes, take medication that interacts with food intake, or have any other medical condition.

If you are in a mental-health crisis or struggling with disordered eating, please stop using the Service and contact a qualified professional or local emergency services.

6. The Buddy feature and consent to share

When you connect with a buddy, you authorize us to share everything you log with that buddy, including the raw text of your meal entries, calorie and macro estimates, timestamps, fasting windows, and progress against your calorie goal. Do not connect with a buddy you do not trust. Do not enter information you do not want that buddy to see. You can disconnect from a buddy at any time in your settings.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm another user.
• Submit content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or that you do not have the right to submit.
• Attempt to access another user's account, reverse engineer the Service, probe for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or interfere with the Service's operation.
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to interact with the Service in a way that creates undue load or extracts data.
• Use the Service or any AI output to build a competing product, to train another AI model, or in violation of Google Gemini's terms.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of the meal descriptions and other content you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, transmit, and process that content solely to provide the Service to you (including sending meal text to our AI provider to generate estimates, and sharing it with a buddy you have connected with). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to our standard backup-retention period.

9. Free service; changes; availability

The Service is currently provided free of charge. We may add paid features in the future; we will tell you in advance if any feature you currently use becomes paid. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any part of it at any time. We try to keep the Service available, but we do not promise any specific uptime.

10. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if continued provision creates legal or security risk, or if we decide to discontinue the Service. On termination, the sections that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY OF AI-GENERATED ESTIMATES, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO PARTS OF THIS DISCLAIMER MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CALOBUDDY AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR HEALTH OUTCOMES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE OR ANY AI-GENERATED ESTIMATE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED UNITED STATES DOLLARS (USD 100) OR, IF GREATER, THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE (CURRENTLY ZERO, AS THE SERVICE IS FREE).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Calobuddy and its operator harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the competent courts of Cairo, Egypt, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
